Welcome to Our Genealogy Site

This site is presently under construction and probably will be for some time.

Please excuse the higgledy piggledy layout whilst I decide what I want to say, what I want to show and where I want it all to appear. I also need to get to grips with the technical side of building a website.

I am aware that certain links don't work at the moment.

Our Histories

Note for webmaster

I am using template no. 21. Other templates are available! However, settings and links will need to be set up again.

I don't know why...but there it is

In each family there is one who wants to find out about their ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.

That one is me, Tony. Undertaking genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts (although I am guilty of doing just that!) but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before.

Murder, suicide, accidental poisoning, disease, war.

Inter family marriages, cousins marrying cousins, widowers marrying their late wife’s sister(s), widows marrying their late husband’s brother(s)

Close family, distant relatives (32nd cousin 4 times removed’s ex-wife anyone?). There are even people who have no relationship to either of us, probably because I once thought there was a distant connection that was subsequently disproved and I can’t bring myself to delete them.

English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, American, Canadian, Australian, Indian, Pakistani, Russian. The list goes on.

Royalty, paupers, high flying government officials and salt of the earth farmers and agricultural labourers.

Emigration, immigration and staying in the same village the whole of their lives.

Missing links, wrong links, errors, supposition and pure guesswork.

It’s all here…..somewhere.

William Graham HAMILTON

Tony's great grandfather on his mother's side. All round good guy proudly wearing his Royal Marines uniform.

Murder Most Foul

Gill's great great great grandmother, Ann HARVEY nee JACOBS, who was murdered by her son Thomas in a dispute over land given by his late father.

Emma Elizabeth PAPWORTH

Gill's 4th Cousin, 3 times removed! Part of the family that sailed across The Pond in 1864 to join the Mormon community.

William Graham HAMILTON....again

I love this picture, which was actually issued as a postcard. I wish I had the original, rather than this photo of a photo of the card.

This depicts William G in 1908 (post his discharge from the Royal Marines) working as a milk carter with his two eldest sons William Charles (on the left) and, in the background, the rather ghostly figure of Harry, who had downs syndrome.
